Legendary Rally driver and YouTube star Ken Block dies in snowmobile accident aged 55

The accident occurred at 2 p.m. when Block was riding a snowmobile down a steep slope in Wasatch County, Utah. The snowmobile upended and landed on top of Block, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Mr. Block was riding with a group but was alone when the accident occurred,” a statement from the Sherriff’s Office said.

 Block is survived by his wife and three children.

Block was known for his Gymkhana YouTube series, in which he performed driving stunts and drifts at various locations around the world. The videos gained hundreds of millions of views.

Block posted the first of 10 Gymkhana videos to YouTube, which featured him stunt driving, drifting and creatively interacting with his environment, and nearly broke the internet. More than 1 billion views later, his Hoonigan YouTube channel became the most popular in motorsports history.

Block was also a successful rally driver, becoming a World Rally and Rally America podium threat and a five-time X Games medalist in RallyCross

Ken Block was an absolute legend in the sport of rally cross and a hero and inspiration to anyone that wants to get behind of the wheel of his 1000hp + monster machines. He may be gone but his legend will last for eternity of all motorsport sports.
